Conference Overview
After the Berlin climate change and security conference on Oct. 11-12, 2022 in Germany. The Iraqi Parliament in cooperation with Sanad Organization for economic development will organize a Climate change and security conference. The conference will connect the important stakeholders working to address the impacts of climate change on Iraq and the region. The sole source of national revenue that relies on Oil production worsens the environmental scene and generates more greenhouse gas emissions. Besides the rapid population growth, the climate change impact, and water scarcity, the water shortage is expected to increase dramatically. As a result, the agriculture sector will dwindle, and food insecurity, and socioeconomic, and national security challenges will soon emerge. Collectively, Iraq at the state level is required to respond to the following trade-o: how to mitigate the ripple effect of collateral environmental dwindling, at the same time sustain the socio-economic system.
